CSSI: 11/20/09 vs. Florida

I hate catching up on these things. Seriously, I had moved on from this loss and wasn’t planning on thinking of it again. Instead, I chose a weekend of football watching and beer drinking over sitting down and taking care of this on Friday night, and now I’m stuck here wallowing in the memory of another tough Red Wings loss. Such is life.

Whatever, let’s get this over with.

CSSI: 11/20/09 vs. Florida

Goal 1 (PPG) (DET 1 FLA 0): Pavel Datsyuk (5) from Henrik Zetterberg (15) and Brian Rafalski (9) at 17:58, Second Period

• Wings on ice: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Bertuzzi, Lidstrom, Rafalski

• HP(+): Rafalski (+0.5) does a nice job gathering up the puck and maintaining control in the corner before getting the pass away. Zetterberg (+0.5) for the nice feed to Pavel. Datsyuk (+1) for taking the puck hard to the net and staying with his own rebound.

Goal 2 (DET 1 FLA 1): Stephen Weiss (7) from Nathan Horton (10) and Michael Frolik (4) at 8:13, Third Period

• Wings on ice: Zetterberg, Cleary, Leino, Lidstrom, Rafalski

• DP(-): Right off the hop, Rafalski gets (-0.5) for failing to control an easy pass around the boards, which ends up as a turnover. Rafalski also gets another (-0.5) for standing flatfooted in front of the net and providing no form of resistance as Horton centers the puck to Weiss for the goal. Lidstrom (-1) for deciding to chase Frolik all around the ice instead of sliding back down to help support Rafalski.

Goal 3 (FLA 2 DET 1): Bryan McCabe (3) from Stephen Weiss (6) and Nathan Horton (11) at 0:40, Overtime

• Wings on ice: Zetterberg, Cleary, Lidstrom, Rafalski

• DP(-): Let’s keep this simple: every guy on the ice gets a (-1). Seriously. Watch the replay. From the lazy pokechecking as the Panthers carry the zone, to the lack of an intense pursuit, this whole series reeks over laziness and it’s no wonder the Wings got scored on. Everyone loses a point. Done.

Miscellaneous Points:

• HP(+): I’ll give Helm (+0.5) for hustling to create a pair of breakaways and Lebda (+0.5) for actually acting like he knew what was going on for most of the game.
