CSSI: 11/12/09 vs. Vancouver

CSSI: 11/12/09 vs. Vancouver

Goal 1 (PPG) (DET 1 VAN 0): Tomas Holmstrom (9) from Henrik Zetterberg (12) and Pavel Datsyuk (12) at 17:31, First Period

• Wings on ice: Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Rafalski

• HP(+): Zetterberg (+1) for a great play to hold the puck and keep it moving, even with Kevin Bieksa draped all over him. Datsyuk (+0.5) for the nifty backhand pass around the boards to Hank. Zetterberg again (+0.5) for the nice pass in front to find Homer. Holmstrom (+1) for finishing not once, but twice.

Goal 2 (PPG) (DET 1 VAN 1): Mason Raymond (8) from Kevin Bieksa (8) and Ryan Kesler (13) at 6:38, Second Period

• Wings on ice: Helm, Eaves, Stuart, Ericsson

• DP(-): Fluky goal here. No points docked.

Goal 3 (DET 2 VAN 1): Henrik Zetterberg (5) from Brad Stuart (2) and Niklas Kronwall (6) at 8:00, Third Period

• Wings on ice: Zetterberg, Cleary, Leino, Kronwall, Stuart

• HP(+): Stuart (+1) for a picture perfect lead pass to Hank. Zetterberg (+1.5) for an even better backhand finish from a ridiculous angle.

Goal 4 (EN) (DET 3 VAN 1): Niklas Kronwall (5) from Jimmy Howard (JIMMAH!) (1) and Brad Stuart (3) at 19:04, Third Period

• Wings on ice: Zetterberg, Cleary, Eaves, Kronwall, Stuart

• HP(+): If I could, I’d give Jimmah some points for getting an assist. Sadly, I can’t. However, Kronwall (+1) for a ridiculous shot off the glass that traveled the length of the ice to salt this one away.

Miscellaneous Points:

• HP(+): Leino (+1) for being all over the place and creating some nice scoring chances. Miller (+0.5) for stepping into a new system with borrowed gear and still making a difference with his hustle.
• DP(-): The whole team probably deserves one for their lethargic start in this game, but I’ll refrain from handing out negatives since the team was coming off of a game the night before and was able to grind out a win.
