November 16th, 2009 | by Chris Hollis |

*More moving fun this past week/weekend. Playing catchup tonight and tomorrow. Back to normal later this week, I promise.

Season CSSI numbers are updated here.

CSSI: 11/11/09 @ Columbus

Goal 1 (DET 1 CBJ 0): Dan Cleary (3) from Henrik Zetterberg (10) at 1:05, First Period

  • Wings on ice: Zetterberg, Cleary, Leino, Kronwall, Stuart
  • HP(+): Zetterberg (+0.5) for the steal and getting the shot through. Cleary (+1) for the nice finish off of the rebound.

Goal 2 (DET 2 CBJ 0): Pavel Datsyuk (3) unassisted at 3:03, First Period

  • Wings on ice: Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Bertuzzi, Lidstrom, Rafalski
  • HP(+): Rafalski (+0.5) for keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Holmstrom (+0.5) for maintaining pressure and helping cause a mishandle that ended up on Datsyuk’s stick. Datsyuk (+1) for netting the goal, even though we could probably hand Mason a point or two for mishandling the shot.

Goal 3 (DET 3 CBJ 0): Kris Draper (3) from Brett Lebda (1) at 7:31, First Period

  • Wings on ice: Helm, Draper, Eaves, Ericsson, Lebda
  • HP(+): Lebda (+1) for pinching in to keep the puck in the zone and then putting a solid shot on net. Draper (+1) for the excellent tip-in.

Goal 4 (PPG) (DET 4 CBJ 0): Niklas Kronwall (3) from Dan Cleary (5) at 11:57, First Period

  • Wings on ice: Cleary, Bertuzzi, Leino, Rafalski, Kronwall
  • HP(+): Kronwall (+1) for keeping the puck in the zone and the nifty spin pass to Cleary. Add another (+1) Kronwall for the blast that beats Garon. Bertuzzi gets a (+0.5) for the nice screen in front.

Goal 5 (DET 4, CBJ 1): Rick Nash (12) from R.J. Umberger (7) and Rotislav Klesla (3) at 10:56, Second Period

  • Wings on ice: Abdelkader, Maltby, May, Lidstrom, Rafalski
  • DP(-): Lidstrom (-1) because 99% of the time he gets his stick on that puck and harmlessly clears it away. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen this time and it wound up costing the Wings.

Goal 6 (DET 5, CBJ 1): Todd Bertuzzi (3) from Pavel Datsyuk (11) and Tomas Holmstrom (3) at 13:17, Second Period

  • Wings on ice: Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Bertuzzi, Lidstrom, Rafalski
  • HP(+): Datsyuk (+0.5) for the great backhand pass that’s right on the money. Bertuzzi (+1) for the finish, despite his ridiculous triple-clutch of the shot (which I was really tempted to dock him for).

Goal 7 (DET 6, CBJ 1): Ville Leino (3) from Henrik Zetterberg (11) and Nicklas Lidstrom (5) at 13:50, Second Period

  • Wings on ice: Zetterberg, Cleary, Leino, Lidstrom, Rafalski
  • HP(+): Zetterberg (+0.5) for the nice feed to Leino. Leino (+1.5) for the sick move and unbelievable finish, roofing it right over Mason’s shoulder.

Goal 8 (PPG) (DET 7 CBJ 1): Niklas Kronwall (4) from Brian Rafalski (7) and Todd Bertuzzi (5) at 4:59, Third Period

  • Wings on ice: Cleary, Bertuzzi, Leino, Rafalski, Kronwall
  • HP(+): Bertuzzi (+1) for the nice steal of the puck in the corner, which ended up keeping the attack alive in the Columbus zone. Kronwall (+1) for the perfectly placed blast that scored. Cleary (+0.5) for a great screen of Mason.

Goal 9 (DET 8 CBJ 1): Justin Abdelkader (2) from Patrick Eaves (3) at 8:08, Third Period

  • Wings on ice: Abdelkader, Maltby, May, Ericsson, Lebda
  • HP(+): Eaves (+0.5) for the nice backhand pass up the boards. Abdelkader (+1) for taking it the rest of the way and finishing.

Goal 10 (DET 9 CBJ 1): Justin Abdelkader (3) from Brad May (1) and Niklas Kronwall (5) at 18:36, Third Period

  • Wings on ice: Abdelkader, Maltby, May, Kronwall, Stuart
  • HP(+): May (+0.5) for getting an assist and so he has some points for something other than fighting. Abdelkader (+1.5) for pretty much going coast-to-coast and finishing from a tough angle.

One Response to “CSSI: 11/11/09 @ Columbus”

You could really see Columbus give up after the first 10 minutes of the game and it was even more obvious at the end.

However, it was nice to see Howard only let in one goal. Maybe he’s starting to get a little better. I still think that he’ll be a decent goalie in the future, but not yet. He still has to get a little more experience at the NHL level.
