The Setup: Red Wings @ Blue Jackets – 11/11/09
November 11th, 2009 | by Chris Hollis |In a bit of a hurry tonight, so The Setup is a bit sparse. Please forgive me.
Anyways, the Wings are down in Columbus looking to get back to their winning ways after the mess in Toronto on Saturday. That mess included the loss of Jason Williams, who is out for the next 6-8 weeks with a broken fibula. In the wake of yet another injury, Ken Holland finally took action, picking up Drew Miller off of the Tampa waiver wire and bringing the 25 year old back to Michigan. Not to toot my own horn too much here, but I did suggest this might happen yesterday, and I think it might be a solid move for a team that is really banged up and looking to add young talent on the cheap. Holland knows this kid inside and out from his days at MSU. I trust that we’ve made the right move.
That said, Miller won’t be in the lineup tonight, but here’s who will be:
Forwards
Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi
Cleary-Zetterberg-Leino
Eaves-Helm-Draper
Maltby-Abdelkader-May
Defense
Lidstrom-Rafalski
Kronwall-Stuart
Ericsson-Lebda
Goaltender
TJHE (Jimmah)
Other News and Notes:
- Jimmah’s in goal for the first time since his six goal explosion in Edmonton. I know both Kujawa and I will be closely monitoring this one, and I hope Howard can make me eat my words later tonight.
- Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock will be behind the bench for his 1,000th game tonight. I’m sure the postgame cake is already quivering.
- Bobby Roberts over at Stingers on Ice points out that the Jackets are 3-0-2 in their last five games, and would love to add another win to that total over the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year. He also makes it sound as if we are heading into some sort of death match, claiming that “it’s time for revenge.” It’s November. It’s time for fine tuning rosters and tinkering with lines. Still, can’t knock the enthusiasm.
That’s all from here. See you back here after the game. Go Wings!!!!
