By the Numbers: Leafs 5, Red Wings 1

November 10th, 2009 | by Chris Hollis |

It was supposed to be about “celebrating the Stevie.” Instead, they came out and “threw a stinker.”

Not sure I can say it much better than Brad Stuart did. It was an ugly game and the Wings sure didn’t show up to play, getting blown out in front of some of the all-time greats of hockey. Adding salt to the wounds, Jason Williams went out with a fractured leg and will now miss at least eight weeks, further compounding the Wings injury issues.

Honestly, I don’t have much more than that in terms of a recap. The Wings just looked slow, disinterested and completely out of it. The Leafs took advantage of that and have a blowout win to show for it. End of story.

Let’s just hope it gets better when we meet up with Columbus later this week. In the meantime, here’s the breakdown by the numbers for the loss at Toronto.
